ABC strategic partnership

The ABC and First Languages Australia have signed a strategic partnership agreement to confirm and amplify our collaborations. The partnership will continue current activities such as This Place, station IDs and ABC Education projects and add new commitments such as an ABC and language centre staff exchange program.

First Languages Australia CEO Beau Williams says, ‘Our partnership with the ABC has been a strong asset in our efforts to increase public awareness of the many hundreds of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages of this continent. First Languages Australia is looking forward to continuing our work with the ABC to present community-led and owned content that shares stories of our nations’.

Kelly Williams, ABC Head Indigenous, Diversity & Inclusion, reflected on the partnership to date, saying, ‘The ABC’s long collaboration with First Languages Australia has created more than 1000 pieces of video content featuring place names from around the nation. I am looking forward to formalising our relationship into this strategic partnership, deepening connections with ABC offices and First Languages Australia language centres across Australia to ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders languages are included in ABC programming and thus the national conversation’.
