Callout for performers - Yarrabil First Nations Kids Songs

Minyahgu everyone,

The Yarrabil First Nations Kids Songs collection has recently launched on ABC IViewand is soon to be shown on ABC 23 television. The response to the program has been fantastic and we are now looking for new songs and talent for a second series. If you are a First Nations singer or singer/songwriter who would like a chance to be involved, please contact our project team, even if you have no previous recording experience.

The first series has created six joyful songs aimed at helping children learn their language and has been welcomed by both the communities involved and language educators.

If you have your own children’s song that includes your language, or you are a performer who would enjoy the chance to sing one of the songs chosen for the program, please send us a video of yourself singing (and playing if you are also a musician). A short video from your phone is fine. Six performers will be selected from the entries for this second series.

The recordings will be completed before the end of the year in the ABC Brisbane studios with travel and expenses covered.  And why not point out this invitation to someone who may be a bit shy to put themselves forward?

Please send your details and any queries by the 18th August to faith@firstlanguages.org.au

This is a joint project between ABC Education and First Languages Australia.
