CEO Beau Williams begins to meet with language centre and program staff

Through the past six months, Beau Williams has been busy meeting the managers and staff of language centres both virtually and in person, including: Victorian Aboriginal Corporation for Languages, Kimberley Language Resource Centre, ARDS Aboriginal Corporation, Central Queensland Language Centre, South-East Queensland Language Centre, Murdi Paaki Language Hub, Muurrbay Aboriginal Language and Culture Co-operative, the Mobile Language Team, Far West Language Centre, Miromaa Aboriginal Language and Technology Centre and Wangka Maya Pilbara Language Centre. Beau is excited about the momentum and enthusiasm within the network and is looking forward to continuing these discussions to learn more about the specific needs in each region.

As one of his first activities as CEO, Beau was invited by First Languages Australia committee member Rachel Baker to attend a cultural induction program she was facilitating in Darwin. Rachel also arranged for Beau to meet with the language team at ARDS and Yolŋu Radio, and research staff at Charles Darwin University.

More recently, Beau travelled to Wiradjuri Country to meet with First Languages Australia Committee Members Bruce Pascoe and Geoff Anderson. As part of the visit, they were invited by the Parkes Wiradjuri Language Group to the opening of Wiradjuri Nurambang and to participate in a Wiradjuri class at Parkes East Public School.

Beau is now looking forward to visiting Central Australia in the coming weeks, and South Australia and Western Australia in the second half of the year.
