Working toward a national interpreting and translating framework
Through the coming months, First Languages Australia will begin work with Aboriginal Interpreting WA and relevant states and territories, toward a national framework for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander interpreting.
For many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, interpreting and translating are essential to meeting communication needs and ensuring two-way understanding and equal access to services and information.
The framework will identify ways to build on the strengths of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander interpreting profession through the coming years.
