Western Australia language programs meeting

First Languages Australia was pleased to support a meeting of Western Australian language centres and programs in April. Among the recommendations to come from the group at the Perth meeting were the following:
• First Languages Australia to support the establishment of a State Advisory Body for languages in WA.
• Guidelines to be developed for the appropriate funding of language centres based on minimum needs for staffing, resource development, correct governance and organisational stability.
• A range of training pathways to be identified that are relevant to the needs of WA language workers.
• Language centres to work together to promote languages and language activities across the state.
