Mexico/Australia young champion exchange program

From May to July 2021, First Languages Australia and Rising Voices have invited young champions from Australia and Indigenous language digital activists of Mexico to participate in a virtual exchange program.

During each 90-minute exchange session, the participants have introduced themselves then participated in facilitated conversations about the challenges and opportunities for language revitalisation, especially in the context of digital media, the internet, and technology.

Support from the Australian Embassy in Mexico provided simultaneous interpretation in English and Spanish. The sessions were enjoyed immensely by all participants.

The exchange culminated in the public webinar Indigenous and Digital: How young people are revitalising their languages on the internet.
