National education project

First Languages Australia is delighted to be able to share the report on the first stage of our national education project which aims to support the development of Indigenous language teachers and the teaching of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages in schools.

The project is funded by the Department of Education, Skills and Employment and runs through to June 2022 in three stages:
1. Research into best-practice implementation of the Framework for Aboriginal Languages and Torres Strait Islander Languages
2. The development of resources to promote best-practice implementation of the Framework
3. The development of a culturally appropriate Indigenous language education workforce strategy.

We are looking forward to the continuing the momentum of the collaborations as we work with stakeholders toward our mutual goals through the final year of the project.
